foodie christmas wish list

December 1, 2016

december 1st – holidays are officially here! i have to admit i started a liiiitle bit early with the christmas music and menu planning last week, but i couldn’t help myself! i know a lot of people get stressed over the holidays with gift giving and entertaining and expectations, but ultimately my favourite part of the holidays isn’t any of those things. it’s being able to go home for a white christmas and be surrounded by my family who loves me (though all of the food doesn’t hurt).

i also absolutely love gift-giving – i keep a note on my phone that i add to year round with little ideas when things come up in conversation with the people in my life, so that i have the perfect gift when the time comes. gifts never have to be big or expensive, there never has to be a lot of them, and i hate the idea of buying crap just to buy it because “it’s christmas”, because something thoughtful goes a much longer way.

so, since it’s officially crunch time, i rounded up a list of things i’ve been swooning over so that you can give the foodie in your life the perfect thoughtful and usable gift! 😚

first up on the list are a few items from gusto’s new shop! gusto on portland is one of of go-to places in the city – there’s always a great vibe, great food (i have vivid dreams about the mushroom pasta), and $1/litre wine, plus their rooftop patio is amazing, so i’m super excited about being able to shop their style!

olive wood & stainless steel italian made chef’s knife
eco-friendly & socially responsibly made market bag
ceramic handcrafted (in montreal!) olive oil cruet

next are two items from the always trusty indigo (where if you shop online between now and sunday, you get 15% off!). i’m obsessed with almost everything in the store, but the two choices below are my picks because they’re so practical!holiday-gift-guide3
classic gold stemmed coupe glasses – perfect for champagne on nye!
the staple in any italian’s kitchen, glazed stoneware le creuset espresso cups

oh west elm – one of the prettiest home stores out there, and right across the street from my house (trust me, it’s as dangerous as it sounds). they have tons of options for things that will be used every day that are also beautiful. who says practical can’t be stunning!

holiday-gift-guide1these two items are from west elm’s collaboration with feedin support of their mission to end world hunger! for every herringbone apron purchased, feed will donate 14 meals to families in need & with every oven mitt purchased, 6 meals will be donated. definitely gifts your foodie friend/family member can get behind!

because your butter OBVIOUSLY needs a beautiful home, buy this marble & copper butter dish

if the foodie in your life is as obsessed as i am, then they would definitely want to cover their walls in food art! browse through the thousands of talented etsy artists, or click the links below to shop my favs.

aperol spritz obsessed this summer? same! this modern aperol print is the perfect reminder
handmade pretty turnip printed onto an antique book page! (they have tons of options from tomato plants, to leave to even octopus printed on book pages – so cool!)

last & the most expensive gift on this list, is the staub 6 quart cast iron cocotte. this gift is the perfect investment in any cook’s kitchen. staub (and le creuset, mentioned above) are the best made dutch ovens in the world, this will last your foodie a lifetime (and then some!). find it at william sonoma!
