friday favourites

July 17, 2015

happy friday and happy world emoji day! i have finally left work, i finally have my pants off and drink in my hand, and therefore it finally feels like the weekend.

as i used to do, i want to share a few of the things i’ve been obsessing over in the last week – music, food and good reads to get you through the weekend!

read// this article on the definitive ranking of every flavour of Mrs Vickies from FWx – i’m more of a ruffles girl myself, but i 100% need to get my hands on the pepperonchini flavour. like what!? also this article about emojis from refinery29 since it is world emjoi day (no answer as to why there’s no taco emoji yet, but still a fun read)

visit// the vice annual photo show: the new photojournalism tonight at angell gallery on ossington. it’s an event that celebrates the launch of the new photo show and the show was co-curated by legendary, award-winning photographer Larry Towell. Towell is Canada’s first photographer to be associated with Magnum Photos and his photo stories have been published everywhere from LIFE, the New York Times Magazine, and Esquire to Elle, Rolling Stone, Geo, and Stern. there will be drinks, and i’ll be there!

listen//addicted is the word i would use to describe me and this song. i cannot stop listening to it! so smooth so sexy just so lovely. thank you to my girl leslie who played this for me while we were tanning on my roof a couple weeks ago! i’m still madly obsessed with it:

watch// the first show that you NEED to be watching is power {watch trailer below you’ll be hooked}. i can’t even tell you how good it is. i binge watched the entire first season, and now that i have to wait for weekly episodes to come out, i can’t take the suspense. fifty cent produces and stars in it – need a say more?
you also need to be watching mr. robot {click link for trailer} it just started and it’s crazy. great acting, so unsettling and trippy and dark – everything i hoped season 2 of true detective would be.

eat// if you’re in toronto and wanting to eat fried chicken (obviously you want to eat fried chicken) you have to visit bar fancy. i can’t find their menu online, but you can check out their instagram @barfancy for pics. i promise you though, it is the best fried chicken i’ve had in the city. i still think about it almost daily, and i haven’t gone for a couple of months. perfectly spiced, crunchy on the outside, moist and tender on the inside, and served with slices of wonderbread, housemade mayo and a pickle. they provide you with all the fixins for the best chicken sandwich of your life. i also had the slaw and dip served with ritz crackers, which i both highly recommend.

drink up, and enjoy the weekend!
